are zebras crossing?

When I was young, I always wondered why they weren’t called people crossing- i mean sure the stripes look like zebra stripes but its human beings who cross dont they? Which is why I loved this new twist to the “zebra crossing” in my neighbourhood. Very simple and yet so cool
